Any insights into what is going on at Didcot?

From Oxford Mail 11th February 2026:
"The head of an Oxfordshire railway museum has resigned amid a reported power struggle at the organisation.
After five years as chief executive of Didcot Railway Centre, Clive Hetherington stood down on January 22 and has today (Wednesday, February 11) said this was because of a “change in governance”.
He added this change would have prevented him from delivering an agreed five-year plan, which he believes is vital to the charity’s success."

A little more information here: Herald

Specifically
He added: “This decision follows a change in governance in which the non-executive board has begun acting in an executive capacity.
A non-executive board should be concerning itself with the direction a company is taking, but should leave day to day operations to the executive, especially things that may need immediate action without having to wait for a board meeting to agree them. It is important that the board has confidence in their executive to make these decisions on their behalf.

Reading between the lines, it looks like the board had lost confidence in him, and was starting to interfere too much for his liking, leaving him hamstrung unable to make decisions without their approval.

Don’t need to read between the lines.

Board decided they were in charge ….. of everything including day-to-day operational matters.

Telling how graceless their statement was.
