There have been pictures cropping up of a 158 coach in GWR livery coupled to a 158 coach in FGW livery. I believe that the GWR coach is from 957. What are the coach numbers of each coach and what are they doing together?

No idea. But this usually results from the original 3rd 158 requiring an Exam and so the 2 'extra' cars are reformed back to their original 158 number. Hence why you occasionally find 2 car 158/9s. I do find it surprising that GW is deciding to refurbish it's 158s in the 3 car formation though rather than splitting them back to 2 car and attempting to avoid hybrids like this.

57747 & 57748 I am led to believe, 150263 failed overnight and not out in traffic this morning. Unit shortages over the last few days not helping, 2 158's out of traffic as well.

Highlight of shortage today, 1042 Gloucester to Weymouth and 1508 return booked 3 cars for strengthening today but, according to GWR Journey Check, appears to be a Dogbox on it's own.

Now updated saying will now be formed with the usual number of coaches

Good job, I've been on that one before when short formed, travelled from Temple meads to Westbury with my face pressed against the doors!

Incidentally, today it lost 20 odd mins in the Twerton area, then lost a further 20 mins sat at Yeovil!

It's been chaos for services around Bristol today. Overrunning works at Cardiff, short forms, displaced train crew, trains terminating early over the network and some very heavy delays.

Good that GWR managed to sort out the formation for that diagram in the end. It's not just the Pompeys that run full, plenty of the local services are heavily loaded and when peak time services are short forms, it creates an issue, especially between Filton and Westbury. About a week ago I was on a 2-car 150 standing in for a 3 car 158 on an evening Weymouth service. Was probably the second most crushloaded train I've been on (not including Underground); number 1 being a 2-car 175 running from Manchester towards Cardiff on a Cardiff rugby match day.

Here is said 158 GWR/FGW hybrid at Bristol Temple Meads Wednesday evening at around 20:40. I just caught it departing Platform 7 as I walked through the barriers.

I again seen it last night at around 18:45 at Worle. It does make a strange sight!

I suppose if the 150/1 and 153 go off lease it'll have to tie in with the 165/166 cascade, which in turn I assume means wires up and running to at least Newbury/Bedwyn and Oxford? (Plus enough 387 fleet)

I suppose it depends if wires are still going to Newbury on time? (I don't think Bedwyn was ever on the plans)

I believe the latest update from Network Rail claimed Newbury electrification was now due along with Cardiff in 2018; Oxford defered to CP6 at the earliest. If the electrification was 'on time' Oxford, Newbury and Bristol Temple Meads would be done already with Cardiff next year (2017) if I recall correctly.

Thanks. Can anyone recall what 153's were returned off lease by FGW (as they were then) and stored for a while at Eastleigh I think?

It was 153302/308/355/374 which were stored at Eastleigh, now all with EMT.

If you don't get a reply, suggest you post on TOPS Request Thread where you would stand a better chance of a reply as this has gone off topic. Cheers, no offence I hope

Presumably because they will continue to run a 3 car sets until replaced by Turbos - which maybe some time yet.

387138 is out of Derby - was on test with 387139 off Bletchley.

One car of 165124 (the undamaged one!) is at SPM for staff training.

387140 & 387141 are both out on test at the moment, I believe 387138 and 387139 may have completed their WCML testing, and are either awaiting delivery at Bletchley or are awaiting to be sent out to Brighton on test.

Should just mention, in case it hasn't been, that 165104 (I believe) is out and about in GWR green sans vinyl overlays - so no GWR logo, no 1s, no matte diagonals etc.

That's because it hasn't been long since it's returned from it's repaint, and with one of the 166 units travelling to the Marsh for driver training in the West, it hasn't managed to be fully vinyled yet.

387138/139 were delivered to GWR on 20th Dec and 19th Dec respectively. So they are no longer at Bletchley.

387140-142 are at Bletchley for commissioning and acceptance runs.
