Have we heard any more about 43040 and it's repaint into an InterCity livery?

Given that the re-livery was meant to be for SPM Open Day, what would be the point now?

If I was putting money on it, I'd say 43040 will be getting a repaint in standard FGW blue.

It can still be used to mark the final months of HSTs in squadron service on the GWML, after decades of sterling service, in the same way that Virgin had a brace of 47s painted up in heritage liveries to mark their closing days on Crosscountry services.

Still at Laira IIRC, she had to be rubbed down a bit for some remedial body work to be undertaken-hence why she wasn't at SPM for the Open Day.

I don't think it really matters to be honest. At the end of the day, FGW/GWR's power cars are all basically the same.

Should be, the 150 twins don't venture out at weekends as there's enough Turbos to cover them. They can, and have on a few occasions ventured west for a weekend or longer.

Should be, the 150 twins don't venture out at weekends as there's enough Turbos to cover them. They can, and have on a few occasions ventured west for a weekend or longer.

I thought it might be that. However, it must be said the FGW/GWR's record on labelling its 166s properly is dire. After many, many months from being re-painted (mainly the blue units) many still have first class stickers applied randomly to a few or no windows in first, yellow/silver bands missing (or left in place on downgraded sections), or applied to one side of the coach only, anti-macassars left in permanently de-classified first sections and so on.

Getting a train out for service is priority number one, but getting the significant details right should not be abandoned either.
