Great Western delay repay account

My Great Western Railway Delay Repay account has an old email address that I rarely use, which is quite annoying.

When I log in and try to change it, the text box for the email is greyed out and I can't edit it. I can edit all the other personal information fields.

So a two-part question:
  • Have Great Western really designed their system such that you can't change your email address (which would be stupid enough as it is, and I think could be argued might place them in breach of GDPR), but nevertheless added a text box for it to the website?!?
  • If I just create a new account with the same name/address but a different email, could this cause problems later?

Did you contact GWR about this, and if so, what did they say?

I can't see how it is a breach of GDPR just because it isn't something you can do yourself. Have you asked them to change it?

Personally I would create a new account and the old one will just become inactive after a while - you get an email telling you the account will be closed eventually. If you're super nervous for some reason, set up a new account and then email them afterwards asking them to manually disable the original one.

I have asked previously and they stated it was not possible and I should create a new account.

I had no problem just making a new account when I stopped using the email address I made the first account with and eventually the old account just got deleted due to inactivity.
