What an extraordinary day, probably my worst day of commuting for at least 5 years. I understand there was flooding at Manor Park, but there seemed to be a number of services this evening running between Ilford and Liverpool St only. Any idea whether a normal service will resume for Friday's peak? Can't remember so many Underground/Overground lines being closed or severely disrupted.

Bad day all round ! GEML shut Manor Park, and other various locations off and on as the rain passed thtough, A12 closed, A120 Closed, A414 Closed.
Currently now dealing with the latest round of heavy rain falling on top of water logged ground so not a good evening peak either, but by tomorrow morning I would have thought staff overnight will have sorted most if not all of the issues out :)

Er, better alter thread title to 'flooding everywhere around London'.

There will be plenty of stock out of place in the morning, so the morning peak will be a bad one with short forms, without further bad weather added to the mix

Bad evening on the Midland Main Line as well with the failure of the West Hampstead signal box, going to be some Thameslink services out of place as well as EMT 222s

GEML Closed this Morning as well, the compensation bill is going to be huge.

Not quite closed but still very severely restricted only two trains per hour to beyond Shenfield instead of 9, one main line and one Southend Vic, sharing the ELs with TfL rail and freight. I think TfL rail achieved something like single figure PPM yesterday with AGA not much better on GE side. Supposed to be heading to London later, we shall see!

felt sorry for the dutch and german cyclists trying to get trains from Harwich to London this morning. It's bad enough trying to find the entrance to the station from the ferry exit (by bike, you use the car exit and there are no sign posts, you have to go past a security control point!) and using the lifts (heavy tourers) to get to the ticket office. Trains not running through will just be an added indignity.

Seems that staff were out all day yesterday trying to fix all the issues, and overnight staff from Manchester and Liverpool were drafted in to continue the work, with local staff again turning out this morning, multiple lightning strikes, a deluge of water will / would not mix well with the railway equipment !
