Great Central Railway

Hi all,

I'm planning my first visit to the Great Central Railway between Loughborough and Leicester and I'm looking for recommendations for things to see whilst there.

Is there anything worth seeing at the intermediate stations of Quorn & Woodhouse and Rothley?

Both Quorn and Rothley are interesting stations with different "themes". Quorn is 1940's LNER, There is a goods shed, turntable and signal box in the yard together with the Butler Henderson cafe. Rothley is GCR Edwardian era with the Ellis cafe in the yard. There is the Carriage and Wagon shed there as well but that is not open to casual visitors (It will be open for the Railways at Work Gala). Both stations have booking offices, waiting rooms etc on their platforms.
Leicester North Station is a new station with a BR 1950's era theme. There is time to visit the locomotive and possibly get into the cab during the longer run round time allowed.
There is the Quorn Wagon and Wagon Weekend, July 22/23, and Railways at Work, Aug 19/20, coming up which will have a lot of action at Quorn and lots of freight train action with busy timetables.
