Great Central Railway Steam Gala 10th-12th October

[Crompton Karl]

Ok, now i have made my mind up on what to do this weekend. Not chasing Railtours in the West Mids anymore, not gonna go to the GCRN Diesel gala this year as i have been to too many Diesel Galas this year. So I'm gonna go to the GCR Steam Gala on Saturday. Anyone gonna be there?

Looks like a good line up - and a chance to Ride behind Tornado, of which i am looking forward to seeing.

So who else is going?

I'll be there all 3 days - on the trains tomorrow (all trains with 70013), in the beer tent at Quorn all day Saturday, and doing very little on Sunday!

[Tomnick]

I'll be hiding away at Rothley G.F. for most of Saturday, then sweeping out Quorn box from 0845 - 1400ish on Sunday. Feel free to wave!

That's a real shame, you missed a classic.

Not as classic as the Steam Gala though Mr Muppet, I'm afraid.

I have to say i agree, anyone who knows me will know i love my big Diesels, but i wanted a change and i absolutely loved the GCR steam gala, it was awesome and in my book the best Gala (steam or Diesel) i have been to in a few years. It was amazing watching those Big Steam loco's heaving 8 coaches along the GCR - i intend to go to a few more steam Gala's next year - i think i might be starting to like Steam engines a little more than i used to.
