Gravesend station rebuilding and extra platform - Dec 2013

It's good to have confirmed dates for it. Once complete 12 car trains will be able to run to London terminals. Platform extensions and power upgrade work is mostly finished I think. I'm wondering though does this also provide provision for a future crossrail extension to Gravesend? In other news the Abbey Wood station demolition begins next month for crossrail.

There are 'safeguarding directions' for a future Crossrail extension to Gravesend, so AIUI they should have allowed for that possibility in the design. Safeguarding is supposed to prevent anything significant being built that would have to be removed later.

Hmmmm... If by mostly finished you mean not yet started (for the platform extensions) then yes, it's mostly finished...

Where havn't they started? Most stations seem to already be 12 car or the works are near finished (Erith, Plumstead, Westcombe park I think on North Kent line).

Well yeah obviously as that's what the link refers to - Gravesend starting in December. Most other platform extensions are near completion.

The through lines will be lost, and a bay platform added roughly where the up platform is at the moment. Should be good when it's done.
