Grantham Station

Hi guys,

I'm on the lookout for some images that clearly show the Island platform at Grantham pre electrification. I'm not entirely sure when the original buildings were demolished, but I'm trying to recreate the station as it was in the 1970's. If anyone knows of where is best to try and find some I would be very grateful.

Paul Anderson's "Railways of Lincolnshire" [Irwell Press - 1992 ISBN 87 1608 30 9], also has some interesting pre-electrification photos of Grantham on pp.14-18.

Was it Grantham that had a private, proper, old-fashioned, 'BR type' cafe until quite recently?

There is an old cafe in worksop station, that is now a pub (some nice pics of it in the ticket office)

I agree, absolutely fantastic. Shame that most stations now seem to have the same identi-kit Pumpkin or Costa coffee instead of these buffets. Thankfully some stations still do have them around, which always adds a lot more to the journey.
