Grand(dad) day out

No doubt the die-hards of the forum shall be horrified, but my Dad has never been on a Pendolino faster than 100, or when tilting - and he actually wants to!

With his birthday in July, I decided to look for advances for a day out for him, me and his grandson (free 4yr old). After much looking for very cheap advances I found some great deals.

1 single Bhm-Lds £13.50 (I'm free with XC).
We're then doing Lds-Car, I'll get those tickets later as they're just walk on fares (any split advice welcome).
From Car-Eus I got 2 singles total £30!
And to finish Eus-Bhm 2 singles total £15.

So, all in, with just the Leeds to Carlisle tickets missing, it's £58.50 for two people. It certainly pays to plan ahead.

Any advice on splits for Leeds to Carlisle, one for 75% TOC discount (anytime only) welcome.

Off the top of my head, Route Appleby tickets would be the way to go. I will check later.

As much fun as tilting sounds. I think I would prefer a HST with Mk3's. However let me know what tis like, do you lose your coffee. do you feel ashamed that the APT was doing this years before, however the rail industry was shortsited and never gave it the chance it deserved?

Edit: And no it's not an Anytime Single - I know what some of you are thinking (that legendary one that has been posted a few times, but it's best that it isn't posted too often, as we don't want ATOC to find out!!!) - it's actually less than half the price of that
