I was stood in peterborough station this afternoon spotting, and saw the newly named grand central 'peter fox platform 5'. I heard a couple of other enthusiasts saying that rumours were going round that grand central were going to be naming another one of their trains. Just wandering whether anyone else had heard this and what they might be naming it and which train it was going on. Many thanks

They are naming it Elaine Holt. Some kind of two fingered acknowledgement supposedly.

Surely, if you were going to that much trouble, you could make a statement against pointless corporate nameplates with:

"We ran out of ideas, but this company gave us lots of money to put a whopping big piece of metal on the side of this train"

;)

Would the locomotive be long enough for that nameplate?

Oh it would probably require 3 lines of text, but to really make an impact it would have to be huge text. I'm thinking of the whole length from the cab door to the luggage door on the sides of a power car...<D

That might adversely affect acceleration and/or axle loading?
(Assuming it wasn't a nasty vinyl one of course)

It would drastically affect weight, but I'm not seriously suggesting it for one second. The whole thread's pretty much everyone having a laugh, so I joined in. It doesn't have to be serious or actually doable!
