The launch is getting ever closer...

And so is my death, but hopefully that's a fair way off!

Having said that, I do expect GC to start operating within the next month or so. They've got some genuine people 'up at the top', so good luck to them when they eventually get going.

It would appear the Press Launch has been delayed by yet another week...
The accommodation GCT had booked for me has changed from Saturday 22 September to Saturday 29 September
However, nobody has phoned me yet to confirm the change!

That's probably because it won't be the 29th Sept...
We do need time to test the sets before they enter service. Mid October is what we (train crew) think at the moment, but without confirmation from management all we (and you) can do is speculate. That said, it ain't gonna be september, unless they pull something out of the hat ASAP!
pm me if you want to check out your info before posting...

The train service numbers were issued by ORR several weeks ago, and are valid until 09 December
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
It won't be until 14 October at least, everything is cancelled in TSDB prior to that date and the TOC has confirmed same.
The TSDB is for fares, not services
GCT will be operating its own fares and transfers, and so is exempt

No it isn't.

TSDB is a module of TRUST - the train services database.

And?

The trains will.

And yes - fares that GC will accept will be on RJIS. I don't see why fares would be on Train Services DB tho.

All this behind time stuff, delayed press launches, late stock etc., they 'aint exactly doing themselves any favours, & isn't exactly gonna create a good image for them to be honest.

I understand delivery of the first power car from Devonport has been delayed until the weekend due to a last minute hitch. (That is, unless you believe that a full set has already been made up and is hiding at a secret location!)

have grand central given a final date as to when they will be starting sevices?

No,but as sir clagalot posted on here previously,he and his colleagues believe it to be mid october, personally I'd put my money on end of october early november as I see that no more powercars have been spotted on low loaders yet(prepares to be shot down by watching GC staff !!!) ;)

IMO, I agree 100% with you Pathfinder.

This may sound stupid, but are the train interiors going to really look like what the GC website shows, or is it just a pretend mock-up? (I don't personally like the GC website's version)

From what Ive been told the interior will look nearly the same as the GC website pics, apparently the pic of marilyn monroe standing under the grand central sign in new york has been printed onto the curtains in 1st class, but you have to close the curtains for the full effect ! clagalot, you out there, please enlighten us my friend !

I reckon that the December Timetable change is now the earliest realistic date for GC to start operations, I can't see that operation with one set is an option.

Unless GC has 2 sets available by mid October I dont think regular services will start in 2007.
I reckon you could see a notional train to maintain the rights to the paths but thats about it.

I wouldnt hold much faith in what the GC "staff" say on here, none of their forecasts have proved accurate.

Firstly, can I say welcome back Darandio, where you been lad ? secondly, there are no coaches at heaton depot just the 1 powercar 43067,if there were coaches at heaton i would assume wnxx would have had pics/info of their movement from marcroft !! ;)

Hi Pathfinder, been keeping an eye on things but only accessing the forum via my mobile at the moment.
As for the GC situation, I can only repeat what was said on the news yesterday about there being a set at Newcastle although i have no personal proof.

The only set GC are using at the moment is a DRS charter with the WCRC 47208 as traction, through eaglescliffe about 07.40ish apparently !!! ;)

The only things I could see at Heaton at 0850(ish, on an Edinburgh bound HST!) were the 08 and barrier. Same story last night at 1830(ish, southbound, having been up to Mallaig!), with the addition of the WCRC 47 and DRS coaches.
There has been a rumour this afternoon that some coaches have been delivered to Heaton, but I don't have any confirmation of that, wnxx hasnt been updated yet today (at 6pm)!!
It had been suggested that we would run the 0646 to KGX, then back to York, crew change, then back to KGX for the 1650 back north with only one set, but nothing was said, so we are expecting that the full service will be launched, hopefully in the not too distant future!!!
