Bit late but Its only just come back to me, and I'm not in the know with workings up there really  I was at the Cardiff v Leeds game on the 30th October 2011 and before the game, I saw a 180 pass heading to Wakefield, Is this the normal routing? I haven't seen one pass before, only the standard Voyager/HST/91/321, reminded me of the time I saw a Eurostar head that direction years ago, couldn't believe my eyes lol

No.

Leeds - Outwood - Wakefield Westgate was the normal route for GNER's Class 373 (Eurostar) London - Leeds trains.

No the normal routing is Bradford Interchange-Halifax-Brighouse-Wakefield Kirkgate-Pontefract Monkhill-Doncaster then on ECML to London KX!!!!! Not via Leeds and also a strange diversionary route too unless it did some reversing around the Leeds Whitehall Junction area

That date was a Sunday, and I suspect the train you saw may have been a diverted service or ECS working to or from Crofton if there were were Engineering Works between Mirfield and Wakfield Kirkgate.

That's exactly what some GC services were doing on Sundays late last year - they almost went into Leeds (coming from Bradford Interchange), but then stopped and reversed to head out to Wakefield.

Aah so that means it did Wakefield - Leeds Whitehall Junction (via Outwood) reversed then gone via Dewsbury to Brighouse, then to Halifax and Bradford Interchange then?? surprised it didnt go via Woodlesford then it wouldnt have needed to do any reversing :s

They go up to Whitehall Curve from Bradford (via New Pudsey), then reverse on the curve and go down to Wakefield Kirkgate via Outwood and Wakefield Westgate. The 0805 BDI-KGX is currently booked to do this SuO and was this time last year too.

Don't believe it is any more. I think that was just a short-term thing. I see that service goes past Healey Mills, then Kirkgate, then Hare Park Jun.
