I dont buy this we know but we cant tell anyone. If GC knew a day they would be selling tickets. The company must be haemouraging cash at the moment. I hope for the staffs sake its soon or I've a feeling it may be never.

Well, my last available date to sample GC is 12 January Ive an awful feeling they wont be still going in the proposed format by the time I get back in August!

One HST should be up and running in public service by next week
However, it could as far as February before all three HSTs are available and the proposed timetable is finally up and running
Just in time for the March timetable change as well!

It is possible I can move work days round, based on client requirements, but it is rare
Just this morning I received two requests for emergency work to be carried out before the end of the month
All my clients know I need 3 months notice for new work and a minimum of 4 weeks notice once work is confirmed
Short notice work incurs a premium, on top of my standard £10 per hour charge (excluding travelling costs)

£10 is IIRC a grade 1 signalers basic hourly wage. Even shop cashiers get £6.60ish (at the top end).

£10 an hour is competitive in IT
The rate is based on a per-job basis
Not many at-home jobs pay that much!

As for £10/hour? That's not much. I agree it may be reasonable for a stay-at-home job, but not as a price to charge external companies. The price paid for employees is usually much lower than the price paid on a hire-in basis.

The rate of £10 per hour is my charge to the business, it's not what the clients pay as they pay on a per-job basis plus any costs
Also I don't pay any tax or National Insurance on that either!
I also have a premium rate for late notification work
Put it this way, my tax return last year had transport costs of £3.8m

Assuming you only worked 365 days last year (!), that's over £10,000 in transport costs per day? Not bad for someone working from home. I can see you getting a letter from HMRI.

I would point out that M8 did say transport not travel, so if he is moving large amounts of physical computer equipment, in an appropriate removal vehicle with air suspension etc, it is expensive.

My Uni bought a new piece of physics computery stuff and the moving costs of the old one to a different bit of the department costs came to £25k to move it from one building, down the stairs, into a truck along the Campus and back in at the other end. And it wa sonly the size of a small fridge.
