To clarify:

Someone who appears to be a former GC staff member, with an axe to grind, was making potentially libellous comments. A search for their IP address led to various reported incidents of vandalism on Wikipedia from that IP address, and I conclude that the person in question has a history of troublemaking. We were asked to remove the comments by this person, and we did so.

The comments were made by someone registered as "Train_mad", this person is no longer active on this forum, and if they wish to make libellous comments they should keep the comments to themselves and certainly not post them here. The real identity of "train mad" is known, but no I am not going to publish it here.

People are free to state opinions, or facts, on here. However any potentially libellous comments are subject to be removed if we recieve a reasonable request to do so. If this occurs, the removal of potentially harmful posts may occur without warning. If the post gets many replies before we can act, then it can take a long time to sort out and may result in the topic being closed. Hopefully this won't happen again.

Due to popular demand, I have re-opened the original topic and merged the two together (hopefully fairly seemlessly).

Hey,any closer and I wouldn't be able to fit the train in the veiw screen.

Aye, Certainly do! Senior Conductor (designate!) There is the odd niggle, as with any new company, but to use the old BR phrase.. "We're Getting There" !

You will always get the problems , normally out of your control or down to red tape but the end is nigh for GC see you at doncaster.

Not Really, the end of the debate/delays will be thursday. Then it's all out to get going.

Let me put it this way;-
GC WILL run a Public Train Service from Sunderland to King's Cross THIS year, and We are all looking forward to it. How can I be certain? Recent Developments. All I am going to say (I cannot say more, as you will understand), but we will be running before the year is out.

Oh Its happening alright VCXFAN,we are so close I can almost smell the clag in sunderland(so can the alarms,lol).The photos were taken by Diligent Dave who works for northern at Heaton Depot ! This a question to Diligent Dave,will the GC power cars have the old HT stickers on them ? ;);)

Haha! Yeah, I believe they are trying to find a 'solution' to the fire alarm situation! (how about NOT building over the station in the first place...)

IIRC the exhaust on the HSt power car is just below the fire alarm sensor in Sunderland station. The station was designed for Pacers, 15x and metro (electric) trains, not HST';'s it seems.

Oh, I thought you meant there was a problem with the HSTs fire alarm system, not a train station's!

Am i right in guessing that Sunderland has been evacuated before, because a half-decent train has arrived?

Maybe the people of Sunderland (and also the fire alarms there) are scared of good trains? :lol:

You are correct about the alarms at s/land,they were'nt designed for "Proper Trains" the position of the alarms are adjacent to the colour light signal,142's,15x's etc do not stop adjacent to the "boards" hence when we've turned up with 47's etc we set them off,our drivers have been instructed to arrive and depart s/land(Im black an white,cant bring meself to say the word s........d)on notch 1,personally it should be FULL CLAG leaving the station !!! ;):lol:;):lol:;)<D

There is a little piece in the Sunday Sun today. It has MD Tim Clift giving an apology, saying that they are still awaiting rolling stock and hopes for an interim service mid-November.
Nothing new to us but at least
other people are being informed.

Alledgedly Grand Centrals Services were to have been heavily hit by engineering works on the ECML south of Biggleswade this winter. Have heard a rumour that a start may now be postponed to March 08! Anyone else heard this?

Yep,most definately news to us but as we all know the industry is awash with "rumour and supposition", always has been,always will be,wheres m8 these days,he seems to know more than anybody else,including GC staff ! ;);)
