Hull Trains seem to be managing just fine with 100% stock availability required...
Hull trains dont require 100% availability at weekends. Nor can they sustain it mon to friday indefinately. When the 180s are introduced I expect an apology from a certain Railuk moderator!

Two trains? They only have 1 out of service.
They require three trains, and they have three trains available, so 100% required.
Their fleet is four Class 222 units
One of them is currently out of service, so that is a PVR of 3 on 3 units, so that is 100%
Their availablity is 3 out of 4, so that is 75%
Don't confuse PVR with availability
One of the remaining three Class 222 units is not available at all times as it is undergoing part-time repair work, hence why it is in service but Hull Trains need to to maintain it 2 days out of 5
Once the fourth unit is repaired the situation should resolve itself, but that is several months away

You're just rephrasing what I am saying.

Currently, Hull Trains require 100% of their current available usable fleet for the Monday to Friday service. Therefore I believe in English without using silly abbreviations such as PVR, they require all 3 available units, hence 100%.

It might be rephrasing, but the terms are quite different

Yeah, Tom. Your statement makes sens in English, but M8 demands the final word due to his large ego, and the fact that he is clearly so insecure in his job (due to spending too much time pontificating and speculating and not enough preventing loss??) that he feels the need to demonstrate Wifi for money! If the Icomera system is as easy as GNER's I fail to see what is difficult. And if a customer doesn't already see what the benefits of accessing the internet on the move are, then they probably don't want/need it.

The terms are different but mean exactly the same thing - you're just rephrasing with big words that someone may not be able to understand

Availability and PVR are not the same thing...

PVR :
If you have a fleet of 4 trains and you only need 3 for them, then your Peak Vehicle Requirement (PVR) is 3

Availability :
If all 4 of 4 trains are available, then you have 100% availability

Hull Trains have a PVR of 3
Their fleet is 4 trains
However, at the moment they only have 3 of the 4 available

It's like having 8 seats in your living room for 6 people
Remove 2 to the garage and you are serious trouble if another person enters the room
See the difference now?

Put it this way - 1 of their units is permanently out of use certainly in the near future and therefore they have 3 trains in their fleet, got it?

m8, in another thread you campained against the use of acrnyms, yet here you are freely using them to bamboozle others...
"Bulls*** Baffles Brains" springs to mind...

I've mentioned it already, the service start date appears on the ORR website!
If GCR miss this "final" one then they will need to submit a new application
To avoid this, there is a contingency to hire a set from MML, and there is a ECS move in their track access agreement, between York and Neville Hill
It's not perfect or ideal, but it does at least get the service under way for a full launch in December
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---

Having two trains out of service is not 100% stock availability!

Where?! I've searched and can't find it!

Nothing mentioned on the GC website.

The GCR service start date is on the current S17 on the ORR website
Search for :
s17-grandcentral_contract-red.pdf
It shows the service start date as Tuesday 20 November

Well, once again M8 your gen sources are wrong. If you look and read the facts...sorry,let me spell that out for you F A C T S..you will see that GCR service must commence by the 8th December, after THAT date, they will have to re-apply.
That means, all testing and certification and fitness to run certs must be completed by that date.
How do I know? Because I LOOKED at the ORR site and found my FACTS.

Recheck the document, as I've mentioned it before above
The public service is nortified as commencing on that date
The ORR also includes a stipulation the service must commence from the date in December
The date in December is even in the original S17

Wow, 9 engines, plus 2 carriages??

No wonder GC have been delayed starting the services, if they need 9 engines on each set!

Sorry didn't realise it had to be a certain way. On HST stop boards i've seen it says 9+2 not 2+9.

Also 2+6 formation, how many is first class 1 or 2 if any? and will the guards/storage bit be at the end of Standard class next to the engine as well?

No don't, as i was only jokingly saying it, as i thought it was done 2+9, but it doesn't really matter anyway. ;)

I was just jokingly saying why GC has been delayed :-P

Formations will be:
PC-TF-TF-TRSB-TS-TS-TS-PC
As far as I can recall, the guards brake will be a compartment on the buffet car.
