Grand Central and GNER are competing between York and Kings Cross, that is what all this hulabaloo was over
There will also be opportunites for passengers to change at York to/from Cross Country, yet another franchise about to change hands

Grand Central will be competing with GNER, the current name of the InterCity East Coast franchise, but only between York and Kings Cross
A decision has still to be made what NatEx are to call the InterCity East Coast franchise
Their original bid ws based on renaming the franchise Your East Coast, but apparently this decision may be reversed due to the goodwill and passenger recognition that the name GNER holds
Ironically, NatEx would then have to pay Sea Containers a one-off charge to retain the name or pay annual goodwill charges

I have two tickets for the first run, but it never happened!
I expect to receive my replacement tickets during the second week of November
Numbers on the inaugural run have been limited to just 200, this takes place on the Sunday
The first two "public" services are also fully booked, these run on the Monday
Revenue earning services commence on the Tuesday

It's either 062 or 067. 062 is still NMT, 067 is now with GC. I forget which one stars in that photo. I'd hazard a guess for 067.

Not sure what one it is,I picked it from the HST pics for my avatar as I am fond of HST's ! But I would say it aint 067 as clag rightly sez,067 had buffers pre NR working.As for a mid november start date,you might think so,but I couldn't possibly comment !

Im just stating what I read. It had a grand central HST on the front that looked like a FGW MTU style. I know its valenta. I turned the page over and it said the sets and MK3 numbers.

Arrrgh. To make it simple. The front of the Grand central Valenta PC looks like the front of a FGW MTU just black and no first logo....... .

It has the FGW mtu style... and says about the sets. .

Someone was heard to say, "what did they paint it with? A cabbage?!" The bodysides are ok, certainly 43080 has been vinyled, apart from the nose, which has been painted... without sanding it smooth first!! (surely we all know that a decent paint finish comes after decent surface preparation...?)

I should have remembered that. In which case, it's definately 062. Which is definately not a GC machine. As for the start date, that's what is being mooted at the moment.

As for MTUs in GC machines, thank the Lord this is not the case. I wouldn't touch GC with a stick if it were the case!

If the service does not commence on that date then GCR will need to submit a completely new application and restart the entire process

I agree with you there my friend,we were stood on the old dmu lines at heaton on wednesday morning when 067 started up,clag was not the word for it and it sounded like an engine should !!

Also,how come a Loss Prevention Officer gets to demonstrate wi-fi,weres the connection ? :-?
