Thats a 20yo that knows what hes doing! Just done a visit to Kings cross box today, got traction "theory" training thurs and fri at newcastle, then off on a train next week !

If GC had run it permanently as MkIII and TnT with 47's (instead of HST's or polaris), I can imgine their tickets sales being quite good for the first few months with enthusiasts wanted some regular timetable 47 hauled traction fun for the first time in a while!

In fact, with the Shopshire railway team planning on running MkIII's, what are the advantages of them using a class 67 over a 47?

It would be good but Ian has steered away from using loaned stock to start services as he has stated all along he wants to offer the real thing and show how nice its going to be from day 1.

Assuming its the 47s (we havent been officialy told what were using yet, Expect to see them for around 10 days and no more!

Yeah, the 47/7's are 100mph capable, & there's plenty in store, not that a lot of them are in serviceable condition. :roll:

Anyone seen this DRS charter,I've only seen the recent pics of it online,is it the same as what GC will be using ? Does anyone know if they'll have a TGS,it appears they've bought some but I've heard they wont have a TGS in the formation...Maybe_I Dont Know,can you shed any light on this perhaps ? :???:

It is the drs charter, all first class i am told, personally im not sure on if itll have a tgs, however we are ripping the tgs's out of ours and replacing with seats although TGF has been mentioned

Coaches arrive heaton today i think and loco's over sunday night. We doing test runs, 1 round trip to london per day for a couple of weeks, 2 teams of staff working alternate days, my first one being tuesday, first train monday in the morning leaves heaton around 8ish

Hey, it leaves sunderland at 0902 then it takes about ten mins to get to seaham and 15 from seaham to hpool, taking into account its non stop on that portion should only itll take around 20 mins sunderland - hpool, will be running all week mon-sat

also while im here, as im not such an enthusiast but do have an active interest what with working on trains, im just wandering why your so interested in the tgs?

Yeah, the 47/7's are 100mph capable, & there's plenty in store, not that a lot of them are in serviceable condition. :roll:

The only locos in the Class 47/7 subclass (which were authorised for 100mph) are 47701-717. The Res/EWS machines (47721 upwards) are in fact still Class 47/4 locos.

Is the Heaton ECS move running in its official slots as it will in the WTT when the service eventually starts?

No for the purpose of the "training train" its a different path to any that will be operated normally. They have gave us an hour to get from heaton - sun, at the london end just 16 mins turnaround!!

No real reason,was just wondering thats all,if you read my post, I do say that I had heard that GC wont be having any,if thats the case then why purchase them,were there no other MK III's available ? Oh and what is a TGF btw ? :???:
