It's not just about seats, there's comfort too (they have advertised having extra legroom and the 180s do not have as much! Also, wireless - has that been done in 180s? are there any issues there?) but also they want a restaurant on certain services, which the 180s can't provide.

OK, the restaurant can't work (but, to be fair, if it were on the right services, it wouldn't be needed. A cafe bar a la NXEC providing sandwiches and toasties would do just fine). But would/could GC not referbish the trains and, in theory, put fewer seats in with greater legroom?

All I can say is that you won't be the only one avoiding the 180s on GC runs yorkie. How I survived 180110 on a Bath Spa - Paddington leap in January I don't know. 106.5 miles of standing, joy...

Mind, I'm in little doubt I'll get bowled out by the 180s on these runs when expecting a HST and vice versa. It's happened on FGW and MML, might as well happen with GC...

I'll pop into B+Q/Wickes/Homebase (whichever applies at the time) to equip myself with a fire extinguisher ready for the 180s on the ECML though when the time comes...8)

er, the 0910 servie on a sunday is in the current TT... as Ive just got back from working it there and back, including via Darlington and Askern on the way to London!

2 180s as we need a spare for the operational 1!

Yup. These times would appeal to most of the folks I speak to. I still prefer the extra leg-room, tables, and offer of wi-fi which the HSTs Mk3's provide, so the ideal outcome to get my business will be the combination of the HSTs and the time of those more useful paths.

What happened to the 1820 last night? It was on time at AAP but then 21 late at PBR. Then spent 65 mins at York and it looks like it went via Durham instead of the coast (signal boxes shut by then I guess)

Cable theft is what Ive heard too, along with a Power Car fault, which I believe has been rectified, as both were on full scream when we passed yesterday!

Yep,with them being buffer fitted PC'S it makes it easier/quicker to be rescued by "Thunderbird",touchwood we haven't failed on the mainline yet ! (I've just put the mockers on that haven't I !! )

But GC have no contract with EWS.

Contracts can be made up incredibly quick if needed IIRC

IIRC the NCL thunderbird has been used to move another TOC's unit which failed between Durham and Newcastle, thus clearing the line.,

Yes they can as Voyagers and Desiro carry emergency couplers

If a failed train is obstructing the line then Network Rail can and will instruct ANY TOC/FOC to dispatch something to help ANY other TOC/FOC out.

We'll take owt to rescue us !! but hey,natex have had several failures,maybe GC control can keep more CL67's on standby !!
