I've been getting all excited since I put in my pre-order at game, and I'm really struggling to have to still be waiting after so long. One thing I did enjoy in GT4 was the photo mode that you had. For those not in the know, you could do a race, and when watching the replay, pause the action and move the camera, set shutter speeds and apertures and generally have nearly as much fun as with a real camera.

I've been mooching through all of the stuff on gtplanet.com and have seen the results available in the GT5 version of photo mode, which yields 18-megapixel images!!!! The cars used are the same car models you race, and some of the shots show some amazing detail as to what has been achieved. So, i decided to post some examples to show people, and it's just me wanting to discuss how badly I can't wait for this game to come out really. Just click on the image to see the full 18MP detail of the stunning models they've created.

One of the wheels of the Lamborghini Miura

Ferrari F1 cars (you can see the drivers face through his visor!!!)

A stunning Jaguar race car from 1967

There are stacks more, just as impressive shots, but how amazing are the car models to start off, the interior detail and the engine on the Jaguar is exquisite!

Are these actual game play screen shots (without any post processing or tweaking) or are they renders?

These are renders that anyone can do in photo mode, but the car models and textures are actually the in game cars that you get.

I'm realy looking forward to GT5 coming out.

I'm looking forward to having a drive around the Top Gear test track. Someone was telling me the detail is fantastic on the circuit. The tire walls which are I think at Chicago and the Hammerhead actualy shake as you drive past them at speed (Just like they do on the programe) It even includes the 747 in the background

Sorry to dig this up again, but the release date due in just under twenty days has !!!!, been delayed again, no suprise there then. The new date is before Christmas, no reason given apart from the usual we want this game to be the best game, but I do not buy it, reading on the web there are lots of theories why it has been delayed ranging from;

A planned hack attack,
Game only twenty per cent ready ( five years late and only 20% done yeah right)
Major bug found
Or the one I believe the most, that they are holding back on purpose due to other top titles being released I.e COD black ops.

There is quiet the backlash to this on numerous forums, as they has promised at E3 there would be no more delays, but this is Sony and supposedly there flag ship launch game, maybe in another 5 years we will be playing gran tourism forever lol, a serious serving of EGG on your face and pr nightmare .

There's just "1 or 2" big games being released in the next few weeks across all platforms.

Assissin's Creed - Brotherhood, Football Manager 2011, Need for Speed - Hot Pursuit. A couple of Final Fantasy XI x-pacs and World of Warcraft - Cataclysm to name a few.

The main rival for Gran Turismo is obviously Need for Speed, but all of the games I mentioned above do have a big fan base, with World of Warcraft in particular having 12 million subscribers worldwide, with about 1.5 million of them in the UK.

It's probably Sony being wise, and postponing the launch until a week or 2 into the new year, thus avoiding the pre-Christmas scramble for the above titles.

I had no idea football manager was being released for ps3, i thought it was never getting a good management game. Too busy with Fifa 11 just now though, and Fallout new vegas is looking good too.

These two games are in no way rivals, the whole story based play and types of racing in the two games are alien, the physics are a mile apart, and the very essence and purpose of the games is entirely different.

If however you mean they both have cars in, then I agree :lol:

Only Forza Motorsport 3 comes close to aping the GT series in terms of realism. Some prefer the Forza series because you don't have to race the same races over and over again to earn enough money to purchase decent cars, as you do in the GT series.

I cannot wait 10 real world circuits, including Top Gear test track, and 1031 cars. This is no Forza, this will be something else.

I'm also glad as a keen photographer, that the photo mode has been updated too. Plenty of PC desktop wallpapers coming up from now on.

Just thought I'd post that this will definitely be out on the 24th, as we have a nice pile of them in our store. :D Managed to get a copy early, but won't have the chance to give it a test drive till tomorrow evening!

If anyone has £130 spare, the collectors edition is a must. Absolutely lovely bit of kit. Wallet and USB are stunning.

Managed to obtain a copy from a damaged shipment this afternoon (very damaged of course). Quality. I think I might be able to beat the Stig...!

Loaded it in last night for the first time. Awesome. Nothing that I wasn't expecting to be honest, but as a huge fan of the first 4 and two halves made, this is great.

New cars, tracks and the online multiplayer - I don't think this disc will leave the PS3.

Only bought one car so far, but have managed to win all 9 races entered, passthe first 2 licenses including a few gold awards, on level 7 and have 45k in the bank for when my trusty Civic Type R needs a replacement. But for now, it's holding it's own.

Oh it's good to be back in race mode!

Please stop posting this great stuff. Due to illness I had a lack of overtime in my wages, and my wife is due to have our 2nd kiddie any day, so what cash was spare went that way. My preordered copy is sat on the shelf of Game, all lonely and calling out to me :(

You have my sympathy. Not for the illness or lack of cash, but that you can't be enjoying this fantastic game! (sorry to rub it in!). I had to force myself to switch it off at midnight last night - SO addictive. "Just one more race..." :)

My wife surprised me by banging in a few trade-ins to get the game for next to nothing on Friday last week. Since then it's been enjoyment all the way, having lots of fun racing, doing licenses and using photomode too.

There is one disappointment for me, that the AI is not a more formidable opponent! On the license front, I've got them all except for the super license, as I'm not moving on till I have got all Gold medals for them.

As for the photo mode, to show people just how awesome the game and content is, here are a random five shots taken from replays, the last one was drift mode around Trial Mountain, and an epic full bend drift all the way!!

I don't have Black Ops I'm afraid, and won't be. The reasons are that it another poor conversion from Xbox, and so the PS3 version isn't smooth enough. Also, with a 3 year old and new baby due, not much down time to play shooting/knifing/exploding when they're in bed.

Preferring Forza 3 is up to you, but for me, having 1031 cars, loads of tracks, day/night transitions and such like is too awesome.

I didn't mind the samba van round Top Gear, it's the wild and leary Elise that's giving me trouble gettting gold there. It's so twitchy. I've now got all but the special license tests done now, and they're all gold so far!

A good game but maaaaan is it frustrating.

a) why does it take sooooo long to load, even after installing onto harddrive?
b) The graphics during gameplay are no different to before
c) Do we really need that many options on the home screen?
d) needs to be hints on what car to buy next
e) When on your last lap, the AI sends a car right in front of you and they stamp on the anchors and your crash. This ****es me off the most. Spend ages doing the laps, then some annoying arse of a developer decided to put in the "oh no you don't" function, grrrrr.

I also really hate buying a car knowing that it is the first time that it has become available to compete in one particular race. Then you do the race and it is nowhere near powerful enough.

I am really not interested in driving a pick-up, toyota yaris or freaking VW camper just so I can unlock the Nordschleife!!! :)

So in summary, a good game, but really bloody annoying

Yep, i'm a little disappointed with it also, loading times are too long and i don't think the graphics are that mindblowing, gameplay is as excellent as i expected however and overall i'm impressed.

I quite like this though, some responses to your points though

1. No idea though but I'm used to trains sims taking the same time to load so no affect on me

2. Really, I noticed it was a bit different to GT4

3. I find there was less options than expected but I will say there are a couple options that
wasn't needed

4. Well there is some form of hints of what you need, like seeing what takes place in races etc but is no different to the rest, in GT4 I was having to work out what might be best myself, and that was a good idea I thought

5. It does the same thing every time though, shame they can't pull into you at random times. I don't know why your annoyed at them doing it, how would yo survive it a real race when such a thing happens a lot (especially in NASCAR!), it does say 'racing simulator' on the front :p

I absolutely LOVE GT5!

If anyone wants to add me on PSN, my ID is mbonwick93

Has anyone got gold in any of the license tests? It's ridiculously hard!
