GP's and COVID

I have had two of my regular injections since this all kicked off. One 14 weeks ago, no different to usual except for being asked basic questions about whether I had symptoms both when booking and on arrival, some seats and the self service check in machine being cordoned off (doesn't work half the time anyway to be honest), and nurses had masks and visors. They even had a trainee in there.

At the most recent one I was given a phone number to call to get let into the surgery, although in reality found the door open and no one stopping people from entering. Again was asked questions about symptoms/track and trace, had to wear a face covering, and had to wash my hands with soap and water before the appointment. Also had a blood test with no issues, although getting the results might be more difficult as I won't be able to just walk in and ask for a print out as usual.

My gran, in another part of the country, has had countless blood tests, injections, and appointments this year. She also had a trip to A&E during the height of lockdown after a bump to the head.

My GPs surgery now asks to you apply for a consulation on-line - you have to answer various questions on a web site before it will let you actually ask to talk to a GP. I can see this sort of thing staying if it actually does more good than harm.

My gp surgery does this. One time for a rash on my shoulder the app told me to go to the pharmacy. So I went to the pharmacist who said it was a spider bite and gave me some cream.
4 days later it hadn't cleared up so managed to get a gp appointment on the phone, I saw the nurse at the gp surgery who told me it was shingles and that if she'd seen it with first 48 hours of it appearing then the medication she was about to give me would be a lot more effective.
Also wasted a fiver on the cream the pharmacist sold me

To be fair, if I had a rash on my shoulder and no other symptoms I probably would have gone to the pharmacist first too.
