So some undercover cops caught me jumping the barriers and got my details and stuff and said they'd send me something in the post. What's the most likely thing that will happen to me?

The maximum would be £1000 and potentially even jail time (though that normally only applies to serial offenders) if being prosecuted under the Regulation of Railways Act 1889 Section 5. That being said account is normally taken of your means when applying fines.

Can you tell us exactly what these ''undercover cops'' said to you? Are you sure they weren't plain clothes Underground Revenue Inspectors? What did their badge look like?
