Google Transit

The Google Maps website has been offering transit directions across Britain since earlier this year, with data apparently being supplied by thetrainline.com. However, I find the suggested train routes markedly different from those on other sites, such as nationalrail.co.uk. I'm not acquainted with the Routeing Guide, but doesn't it appear that many of the train routes it suggests would be considered invalid?

Did you have any particular routeings in mind (to save people here having to randomly try them until they find an odd one)?

It doesn't sell tickets, the goal is to get from a point on the ground to another point on the ground. Nationalrail.co.uk routes between stations.

Two different goals. If you know you want to travel from 'Tiverton Parkway' to 'Guildford' stations, then national rail is the place to go. OTOH, Google Maps might suggest you take a coach instead.

Ticketing is up to you.
