Google Maps Gradients

Wasn't sure where best to post this.

Anybody know the best way to use Google maps (or similar) elevation calculation tools to roughly make a gradient chart in feet/miles as per the railway type?

In other words I believe all the elevation charts are done in feet but what formula would you use to convert into foot/mile type or is there already a site/plugin which can do that does anybody know?

There's 5280 feet in a mile.

If you want to convert a ratio of equal lengths (such as 1 in 200) to a ratio of feet per mile, then all you have to do is multiply the first figure by 5280 (in my example, that gives us 5280 in 200 or to be more accurate, it gives us 5280 feet per 200 miles).

These are large figures, and we'd want to divide them down to 1 mile. To do that, just divide them both by the 200 :
5280 / 200 feet per 200 / 200 mile = 26.4 feet per mile.

It's just arithmetic. No app, no website, no calculator (so I probably got it wrong!), and perhaps this isn't the solution you were asking for.
