So now, the end is near.......

Now we all now that Abelio are not going to change much in the next couple of years (well apart from increase the fares and collect more stealth taxes) much to everyone's disgust but for all those that have suffered 8 years of this ridiculous cheap, nasty, bums on seat bus company, I thought a thread should be started to celebrate or lament the demise of this horrible period for East Anglia!

Goodbye, gone but clearly never forgotten (especially given the disgusting state of the trains you have left us)............

Can't see the new company being any better. They will not be using the 317s and they will be short forming the rest of the 321 diagrams to aid (if thats the right word) more timetabled services.

At least that is what my trusted source has told me today.

It does look a little like Deutsche Bahn now you mention it, although Abellio are of course Nederlandse Spoorwegen. Maybe they would prefer not to use their home colours of yellow and blue...

It's a caretaker franchise to see the GA franchise through the Olympic period and slightly after until a new long term franchise can be awarded. What did you expect?

Woooo! Be good to see the back of National Express East Anglia, Although Abellio probably wont both repainting the trains for such a short franchise and It will be all the same staff, all the same trains (but less of them) and most likely all the same problems. So other than the name and the uniforms, I dont think much else will change... Would be nice to be proven wrong though.

And I quite like the name Greater Anglia :)

I doubt there is going to be some miraculous improvements implemented overnight, Abellio only have the franchise for a short period and it is very much being done on the cheap, don't expect stations and trains to suddenly be smarter.

A more creative name maybe but as I say above if its serving new places then it's not bad.

Greater Anglia seems like a decent name to me. Certainly better than Grand Abellio Greater Anglia! ;)

Also what new places is it serving? The only things I can recall them agreeing to do are related to stations, ticketing, rolling stock and reintroducing first class catering on the London - Norwich route.

not much lamenting or sympathy for NX going on in this thread!

It appears the only NX Senior Manager to survive is Andrew Goodrum, Customer Service.......now there is a contradiction......he is about as much use as an arsonist in a paper factory!

More dark days ahead!!!!!

I wonder why most train operators are merely named after the areas they serve, the only exciting name is First TransPennine and Virgin!

I didn't mention new places, I wondered if it was. I have no idea if they area.

As I'm sure you know, National Express East Anglia was named "one" when the franchise started.

Stagecoach bid for the 2006 Greater Western franchise as Brunel Trains. Of course they may not have actually used that brand as First bid as First Greater Western but continued the First Great Western brand.
