I might be going to London in the summer - around August hopefully, does anyone know of any good spotting Locations for preferably any of these:
East Coast Mainline
West Coast Mainline
South Western Mainline
Great Western Mainline
Midland Mainline

Not much of a drinker so I don't care about pubs that much but any help is appreciated.
Thanks for the help!

These are my top hits..
A all day all zone travelcard is a great investment.
East Coast Mainline

Finsbury Park, Alexandra Palace, Kings Cross. (All friendly)
West Coast Mainline

Bushey, Cheddington, Euston all good, avoid Wembley Central (tunnel) , Harrow and Wealdstone. (staff dont understand). A bit of a walk but theres a good footbridge over Wembley yard, about 15 min walk south of the station.
South Western Mainline
Waterloo, Clapham Jn, avoid Wimbledon (narrow/ busy), but a 5 min walk south of the station has a very good footbridge.
London Victoria Plat 9 is generally ok, avoid p1/2 staff dont always manage the platform and they like to keep it closed as its narrow at the top end.

Great Western Mainline
Paddington requires a sign in, permit and written test, video and all bookings in advance.
Your only chance is the ungated platforms for short periods.

avoid Ealing Broadway they chase off all enthusiasts.
since the local stations went London Overground they all have become hostile, some aggressively hostile When its contractor staff.
of them all maybe Acton mainline is least of an issue.
Best shot is the footbridge east of West Ealing. (By the canal), and langley Footbridge by the Grand Union canal and Dolphin Jn.

Midland Mainline
West Hampstead Thameslink indeed any upwards towards St Albans are good, St Albans has the preserved signal box also.
St Pancras staff are usually understanding at EMR, but no chance Eurostar (Its intl)

Not much of a drinker so I don't care about pubs that much but any help is appreciated.
Thanks for the help!

Although you didnt mention the BML, all stations except Purley I have found to be ok.

I would recommend including Stratford, Willesden High Level or towards Gospel Oak, Wandsworth road and Kensington Olympia in your itiniery… cross london freights etc. Never had any issues on the GEML.
