Hi there all, i'm making a list of stations or places to visit over the year &i'm looking for advice. Not too far because of prices but i'm open to ideas haha

Rugeley Trent Valley.

You can get a Network Daytripper for £ 6.60 covers you to Rugeley Town and £ 2.80 for the return from Rugeley Town to TV.

Daytripper could also get you to Birmingham Intl or Coventry.

Been a loooong time since I last went 'spotting but I think Kings Norton would be a good location too, also reachable with a daytripper.

Ah thanks lads, traffic through rugely similar to Stafford? As that's my usual haunt so looking for abit of variety, kings norton has a shout. Looking at north stafford junction & Worcester over the next few weeks with chester & crewe booked for 22nd

Yeah, but the stuff on the fasts is, well fast. But it's a good location for photos and worth a visit, probably best as part of an overall day.

A few suggestions, but after a few visits you will soon have seen almost everything that passes through each station.

Bescot.
Birmingham Moor St.
Tamworth
Nuneaton.

Or, if /when you can afford a bit more:
Derby, Nottingham or Leicester.
Worcester. (Shrub Hill)

If you want to see what little freight is left in the North Midlands and you can afford the fare travel to Chesterfield. You'll still plenty of services coming up from St Pancras and the Cross Country services not to mention Liverpool to Norwich services. And of course trains from Leeds to Nottingham.

Been to bescot & walsall a few times too, been some good suggestions here from you all, hopefully off to Worcester tomorrow & north stafford junction next week.

Slightly off topic but which would be the best station to go on the ecml as it'd be nice to see a few hsts flying past. Have looked at Peterborough but that's a way off yet till i win a small fortune lmao

Reading is better for HSTs, you may be able to get some cheap advances if you book ahead really early, or you could split your tickets at Banbury.

Not if he / she is unemployed or on a zero hours contract with rent to pay. Not all 24 year old's are flushed with cash.

Seems a bit goes through Leamington Spa, plus you can ride the Chiltern Cats to get there. Bit further afield, Ipswich, Doncaster and Wilesden Junction.

I pick up about 440 a month at the minute & with bills etc don't get much to myself haha

& thanks again for all the suggestions & help, i'll revert to this for future ideas!

Went Worcester forgate earlier & it didnt disappoint with a good few hst sets passing through with 172s, 150s, 153s, 158s, 166s, 170s all showing

Apart from some clown running off the end of the station & running into bushes halting the trains for 45 minutes it was a nice ride out, stopped off at the SVR to get a few snaps too
