I am the first to criticise the bad service we get on some services but all credit to GWR today. Points failure near Chippenham this morning but GW mainline services in jeopardy but 1130 Bristol to Paddington re-routed via Filton and arrived on time. Fast, efficient rerouting with good customer communication.

Had a similar thing around a year ago when a Plymouth/Paddington train was diverted at the last minute via Melksham and Didcot (due to flooding at Lavington). Impressively, the train was only 16min late into Paddington which seemed very good.

I had great service from TfW yesterday. Usual 0710 CrossCountry service from Lydney to Cardiff Central cancelled due to a landslip north of Lydney. However, it was replaced by a TfW service starting from Lydney at the same time meaning that I made my connection at Severn Tunnel Junction. Couldn't ask for more and really appreciated the joined up thinking.

Had it yesterday due to overrunning engineering works between Westbury & Reading train was over 15 minutes late, only 5 coaches instead of 10. Absolute joke, I'm so glad I went too the front end and eventually just sat in First Class (I did ask the member of staff if Weekend First was available, only to be told she "didn't know if it was allowed this weekend") but anyway got a free upgrade because the guard couldn't get up to check tickets.
