Okay, it's trifling compared to Dawlish but nonetheless was reported this afternoon by me. I wonder how long it'll take to get fixed though. I was tempted to crawl under or slide inbetween but thought better of it.

Don't Network Rail and Northern Rail know how important Ardwick International is to the national economy...

You actually might be right there on second thoughts. I ought to add with a pair of binoculars you can see it as well as other more salubrious goings on in that part of town.

I am surprised that no-one has yet mentioned that from the footbridge at Ardwick International railway station, you have an excellent view of the Ardwick Elevated Arterial Forest that was so thoughtfully allowed to grow atop the nearby disused railway viaduct.

Perhaps Countryfile may consider a view of this to appear in their next calendar.

If that viaduct were cleared and the track reinstated, there's a ready made PICC-VIC link rather than the highly contentious Castlefield route!

I think parts of the viaduct are missing and the land has been built on so it probably would not be possible.

Following my alert, what steps do NR take from here to the re-erection of the fence? I'm not expecting them to fix it straightaway but what is the procedure they follow? Do they prioritise it with other problems? Do they sub-contract?

If the footbridge fell, I wouldn't be surprised if Northern did a Norton (no foot) Bridge, but there'd be serious disruptions for a while.
Seeing as it's only a fence, though, I can't say what will happen.

It would join the line from Ashburys which has a triangle at the northern end so could go towards either Victoria or Stalybridge. However, as per last time this was discussed, it's a bit of a solution looking for a problem and in any case I think HS2 makes any reinstatement impossible.

Brewery Chord (I am unsure of its correct name) is one that I had overlooked as part of the line triangulation at the northern end of the line discussed. Can someone inform me of its correct name, please.

I do so concur totally with your view of the HS2 line making this thread proposal impossible.

I dunno, propping a fence up and rebuilding a sea wall is two different things. I'm sure if they could just prop the sea wall back up it'll be done!

In the usual more cost-efficient manner that is seen in Northern-land, Ardwick International had its infrastructural repairs effected without recourse to the need of a single container from the huge nearby container storage depot, unlike those many containers that were deemed essential for the works used at Dawlish...
