Gold card on Heathrow Express

HEX doesn't sell railcard tickets online or at TVMs, which is bloody annoying.

Its a shame there is no proper rail ticket facilities at LHR. Even in the coach station the TRAIN TICKET desk will only sell rail air tickets from Heathrow via Reading/Woking but they wont sell a ticket from another station.

Slightly off topic, I haven't flown into Gatwick South for years do they still have a full service train ticket desk in the baggage hall.

Not to my knowledge, although when I come into LGW (using the airport three-letter code as I am arriving by air ) I wouldn't normally be looking out for it. There is of course a full range of tickets offered at the Southern booking office, although some windows allegedly only sell Gatwick Express tickets, whatever they might be

Let's stick to services operated by Southern Railway Ltd and not Southern Railway Ltd. Otherwise people might get confused.

I wasn't overly concerned and it was an impulsive decision to get the Heathrow Express and there was no time factor but I would not have moved away from the counter until I had the correct ticket. I did feel sorry for the poor guy as he was really squirming and the queue was building up.

I am flying to/from Heathrow several times in the next few weeks so will explore all options depending on the circumstances but usually travelling from the airport I am in no hurry so won't be moving from the queue until I had been sold the correct ticket.

In the unlikely event that I would be travelling from Paddington I am sure it could be purchased from a TVM at the station.

Indeed, I would venture to suggest that unless your final destination is the area immediately around Paddington that the other options (Connect or Piccadilly) are the better options considering time and cost.
