Tomorrow me and a friend need to buy a return from Victoria to Rainham Kent I have an annual oyster with a gold card. When I tried to buy the ticket earlier from Cannon Street I was told I must have a gold network rail card and that we both need annual tickets to get any discount and it was only for underground singles not national rail or overground.

Also last night when I looked on the southern website it said under rail discounts network gold.

I assumed my gold ticket which says GOLD RECORD CARD was the same and I could buy discounted tickets in the south east with it.

You are correct.

Cannon Street are wrong. Please write to SouthEastern about this matter, and let us know how you get on. I am aware of several forum members who have received poor service from SouthEastern, I suggest all of you follow it up and, if no satisfactory responses are received, refer the matter to London Travelwatch (or Passenger Focus, as appropriate).

Until people chase them up, they will continue to provide inadequate training to their staff.
