Gold Card Group Discounts

[GodAtum]

On the Southern site it says:

Gold Card holders are entitled to additional benefits and discounts as well. Your friends and family can travel with you and save 1/3 off the price of most standard fares* at weekends, on public holidays and after 10:00 Monday to Friday. Also 4 children may accompany you for just £1 each.

But if I sit in the 1st class section and the rest of my group sit in standard do the guards/RPIs mind?

My ticket office knowledge is starting to slip away but I recall that you can get the first upgrade for children too, the supplementary code is NFA for adults and NFC for children if I recall correctly.

Almost certainly yes, as the rest of the "group" would be unable to prove they were entitled to the Gold Card discount, just like any other Railcard, and MAY be liable to a Penalty Fare, or at least having to buy new tickets.

Cheers,

Barry

Ah OK, thanks for clearing that up.
