Goings on at Preston Park

Afternoon.. I've noticed at Preston Park station the disused loop next to p3 has been cleared if trees and shrubs.. And today I noticed men building a wooden access ramp from the road to the London End of Platform 3... Anyone know what's going on? Ta.

down loop maybe but dont see it. Southern have been putting up lots of new shelters lately, maybe its that and the steps are for better access as its a long walk out otherwise.

Seems a bit of a chore to clear the down loop of all the trees just to fit a shelter.. I don't think its that but this is the railways

There is engineering work between Preston Park and Brighton this Sunday. Maybe this is the easiest road access to the track?

I was wondering about this as well. Two thoughts; it looks like they are clearing a track bed so could it be used for extra stabling from the Brighton end associated with the Thameslink programme. Or, are they starting some step free access to the station and installing ticket gates? At the moment it's a open station for access to the platforms as I believe the tunnel route between the platforms is part of a public right of way.

Staff walkway to the "new" carriage sidings I believe.

That's what I heard too.. It does have the makings of a staff walkway from what I've seen. Quite a bit of a walk to the sidings I must say.
