Going on a train with a Cycle - 1st Time.

Hi there.

I'm hoping to go from Bridgeton to Newton (Lanark) tomorrow. I'm hoping to take the bicycle along. What should I do when I actually get on the train? Should I just stand in the doorway? I'm looking at going at 8am or 9am tomorrow.

I'll be cycling back home.

Hey, you will just have to take a vestibule as no trains on this route have cycle accommodation. It is generally preferred that the bike faces the direction of travel adjacent to the doorway which is used least. (On this route, that will probably be the left had side)

Yes, the vestibule is fine, just stay with your bike and try and keep it in the non platform side, which for the majority of the journey is on the right hand , only Rutherglen is on that side, the others are on the left.

Yeah, so I done this today. No ticket guys said anything, nobody at all. Bad thing was was that the train was very old. It did oddly look a bit ramshackled. My bike couldn't really fit in sideways on there. Luckily the train was completely empty.
