Going Mad

I must be going mad as I seem to be palnning to go to the Severn Valley Railway On Saturday for a Steam Train ride rather than to the East Lancs Railway for Diesil Rides.

Its got to be a sighn of madnes hasn't it...?

Not what I'd define as madness. Now if it was a 500 mile round trip just to do the steam ride versus a much shorter one for the ELR diesels, then that could be considered madness.

More mad than the OP's thoughts would be going to London, walking to Kings Cross, up to York, overnighter/overnight moves then back to London the following morning. Which I was planning to do until about 0400 this morning!

Is that the correct terminology? It's always amused me when people say they are going to bash a HST (for exampe), to the uneducated like me I always expect to see a group of people with cameras, notepads and baseball bats

The one that always gets me is people calling other enthusiasts "neds". To me (as a Glaswegian), neds are the Scottish equivalent of English chavs, so when you say neds I don't exactly expect to see a group of guys at a station with a notepad!

I have decided to actually go to Peak Rail not been there before so worth seeing what its like.

Those types of neds are considerably mroe common at Glasgow Central I can assure you!

Not many i'd imagine, I think "ned" is used more in bashing than spotting.

Displayed signs of madness this week myself. Went out on the 0604 to Bath so as to scoop Filton Abbey Wood off a HST on 1C01, all after a sleepless night. Then spent until 1300 at Bristol Temple Meads doing a general spot and eventually went back from Bath at 1436! All in the name of observing HST movements...

Madness sure struck!

I think if I was going to the SVR i'd actually prefer to go behind a kettle. Its just got that certain "something"
