Evening all,

Got sent to Salisbury today for work. Just as I was leaving the station for a walk to the City Centre a brand-new Enviro400 MMC due in which looked very smart in its branding for the Stonehenge Tour service. The vehicle was registered HF66 CFD: not sure if this is the only one coming or whether there are a few more.

Also seen on the road, albeit out of service, was Wilts & Dorset liveried R756 GDL.

I happened to be in Salisbury for a couple of hours yesterday afternoon, I didn't see the new Stonehenge bus but did see R756 GDL on service 25 to Zeals and R754 GDL on s schools service.

I didn't stay as long as planned as the fair was in town and it was too noisy for my liking!

I understand there are 3 E400 MMCs for Stonehenge Tour, fleetnumbers 1635-37, unsure of the registration numbers yet.

Are these the first new vehicles for this operation?

It's interesting how it's turned around. I first remember the JJT-N VRs in Guide Friday livery that must've been >15 yrs old. Replaced by A-JPR Olyms and then Spectras that were still fairly mature before some slightly newer things in recent years. Quite a change with these!

Can't have been paied in ages as they split into two business units a few years ago Salisbury (Reds) from Poole/Bournemouth/Purbecks (More)

At one time, before they were split off into separate business units Salisbury would get first dibs on any new buses

Not certain what you mean?

W&D in Hants and Dorset had quite a lot of new vehicles esp on Poole to Bournemouth even before "More"

I'm fairly sure that Salisbury got a fair chunk of the earlier Solos first whilst Poole was still having to use the stretch Metroriders. I think they might have also had the low floor Spectras before Poole

You're right; the first Solos were at Salisbury IIRC and a big deal was made about the city going low floor and they were the first low floor Spectras three too. However regarding the first Spectras, they were shared around. Poole had 3101-3 but Salisbury had some (for the 8/9) and Ringwood had some for the X3 IIRC. Think Lymington might even have had one?

However, whilst Salisbury does have/has had some good routes (e.g. Bemerton, Andover & Tidworth, Durrington), the Stonehenge Tour wasn't usually one of them.
