Afternoon,

Today I present some Railway Quizes made by myself, using the beauty that is Sporcle.

25 most used stations in the UK. It's hard to get all of them. Put "London" on front of stations that have it in the name.

Couple of issues:

Firstly took me a moment to work out what format you wanted the answers in i.e. just 390s or Pendolinos or class 390. So might be nice to say what format you want them in.

Secondly you're missing SRs 380s.

Thirdly major issue, it's too easy! Once you've got a few you can just enter say class 320 then go up the numbers so enter 320, 321, 322, 323, 324, 325, 326 and so on. It will only accept the right answer so you don't even have to know! That's how I got most of the trains in the 3xx range.

You need to standardise the London stations. Waterloo and Victoria worked on their own, but Kings Cross, Liverpool Street, Charing Cross etc didn't. I got all the out of London candidates except Glasgow Queen Street but missed 6 London stations.

I might have to create one of my own using MS Excel [warning: Macros may be involved, so if you don't like Macros you will need to disable them], which is something I've been doing since 2003. It would be a traditional style quiz, with various different types of question, ranging from "Name the new stock on the Metropolitan line" (S or S8) to "What was the longest line closed by Beeching?" (Great Central); obviously however they would be harder than these two...

It'll be up before the end of the day. And GNERman, it looks good! :)

I should say though, I got all of the Busiest 25 Stations in just 03:12... And all 40 Classes even faster! (I did have to restart though, because I didn't realise that the word "Class" was necessary.)

...Actually, allowing for having to get ready to go home tomorrow, it might be an idea if I don't, because I can spend hours on these things! Sorry :( If there is enough demand for one though, expect to see one on Thursday :)

No, the EMU one works as well. But 10 minutes is probably not enough (certainly not for a non-local).

Got 13/13 on the East Coast one.

I assume on the privatisation TOC quiz that you want TOC's that are no longer on the network?

I tried again, and got to 25 but failed on the last two so I looked. One was South Eastern Trains, which I definitely tried (I must have done something like "Railway" instead of "Trains"), and the other was North Western Trains.

I still can't do the Virgin one though, and if you choose "Give Up" on zero it doesn't seem to show answers...

I've just tried inputting EVERY Virgin station, and still nothing :?

Sorry GNERman; these are good but they do need to be clearer. Here is hoping for a long succession of such things though!

If it is defunct, South Eastern Trains should be there. South Eastern trains ran between 9 November 2003 to 2006 and was run by the SRA after Connex was stripped of the franchise. Then came Southeastern, run by Go-via. This is the one you are thinking of. They both used the same name in the logos, therefore the old southeastern logo can still be found:
