Due to the ongoing programme of fitting MTU engines to HST power cars, plus the 'Mallard' refurbishment, I thought it may be useful to generate a list of current sets. They are constantly changing, but this list can be updated regularly.

What we ask is that anyone who can, notes down the numbers of the power cars and what type of stock is used, so that we can keep this list up to date.

(red = MTU, so you know which to avoid ;) -or which to go for, if you are so inclined!)

So 43318 and 43320 have swapped!
I suggest you both check you have the right formation, as according to the list above 43053 has changed ends!

Hopefully we'll get the whole fleet listed next weekend ;)

Copy/pasting my own post from The HST Forum:

Not sure how much interest will be shown in this information, but someone may find it helpful.

Some GNER power car workings on Saturday 13th October 2007:

43102/112 0625 NCL - EDB
43095/039 0620 Doncaster - EDB/1454 EDB - KGX
43296/099 0710 LDS - Dundee/14xx Dundee - YRK/xxxx YRK - NCL (formed late running 2201 off Durham if that'll help ID that run!)
43077/119 0650 EDB - NCL
43300/117 1250 EDB - NCL
43290/208 1150 EDB - NCL
43108/367 1827 CAR - KGX (worked from Edinburgh I think but not sure of time)
43110/318 2050 CAR - LDS (again, worked from Edinburgh but not sure of time)

Those are all the ones I can remember seeing on a working. Saw at least two other sets which I couldn't identify power cars on, one of these being the 1707 to ABD (not sure of working from Newcastle or London) having an MTU on the back. I am informed 43306* worked on the First Class end of the 1030 from KGX.

Still amazed myself that I scratched off no less than SIX power cars that I required for haulage!

Photos from the day are currently on a film awaiting finishing for development, they will be online soon. Attempting to get my HC19E repaired, after that video footage of the day shall be put online.

* = Gen received from David last night was that this was paired with 056 on the 1322 from Newcastle.

In terms of set conditions:

296/099 Ex-MML in MML condition
095/039 Mallard (was actually very good!)
110/318 Veteran GNER set

Other sets were not really paid attention to, but I believe the stock was 102/112 was veteran GNER stock.

EDIT: Since Tom and I had a post-0300 moan about this, I'll put it into a table. Just in case anyone wants to print it:

Code:
+------+--------+-----------+--------+--------------+-----------+--------------+

| EC?? | 43077 | Unknown | 43119 | 13/10/2007 | VXCFan | 0650 EDB - NCL|
| EC?? | 43300 | Unknown | 43117 | 13/10/2007 | VXCFan | 1250 EDB - NCL
| EC?? | 43208 | Unknown | 43290 | 13/10/2007 | VXCFan | 1150 EDB - NCL|
| EC?? | 43108 | Unknown | 43367 | 13/10/2007 | VXCFan | 1827 CAR - EDB|
| EC?? | 43110 | Veteran | 43318 | 13/10/2007 | VXCFan | 2050 CAR - LDS|
| EC?? | 43306 | Mallard | 43056 | 13/10/2007 | VXCFan | 1030 KGX - EDB|

EDIT 2: For those wanting HST coverage/any coverage over the route, GNER are diverting their Inverness HSTs over the Perth - Ladybank route this and next Sunday (ie, 21 and 28/10/07). I need a HST over that route myself actually, but can't justify the expense.

Forgot to add 320+309 to my power report the other day!

Anyway, ta for tidying it up Jord. Probs a mess due to copy/pasting it from the original format.

It's most likely GNER will have changed some of those pairs by now anyway. However, if you can get it in, I recommend going behind 43039. Lovely amount of scream out of her!

I used to keep records of the HST sets as they visited Aberdeen, between 1989 and 1994
It was almost impossible to keep up with the power cars, as they would often be swapped several times in a week, but the trailers

Could someone combine these details :
http://www.thejunction.org.uk/form_gner_hst.shtml

This will then allow people to determine which power cars are on which sets

Since texting the OP with the gen seems to be a waste of time, I'll post the gen Daniel and I got yesterday:

43238/107 on an 08xx KGX - ABD. 107 sounded lovely, got to say!

EDIT: I believe the move David posted is on set EC52.

43039/095 must be on EC52 then ....

EC55 can't be out and about, as it is currently in Wabtec being refurbished.

I've not used the Craigentinny trailer numbers, just the set numbers from what I can find tonight
That way we can match th power cars to the sets, it's a start at least
I used to keep full records many years as each set passed through Aberdeen...
A bit of a scrabble to see the mid-day service, but providing I saw them arrive at night then no need to return back in the morning!

This leaves :
EC53
EC57
EC62

43107 is on the rear of 1400 London Kings Cross to Aberdeen. A Valenta is on the front and it is a Mallard set.

Ta me.

So you not going to bother doing it in notepad like i've had to do and a few others?

I'm not going to do it in Notepad because I don't know what is on the front - I will do that in a few hours.

Surely it would make sense to credit both people with the gen.

And I see Tom didn't post the updated gen after all...I've been waiting since Tuesday to find out what screaming P/C was on the front!

We didn't find out as it departed too quickly from Dundee. Was on EC58 set though

Yeah, we were basically right at the back, and the end of Dundee station, and despite us practically running, it started rolling and we were going up along side it, and we got to the last carriage then the power car went round the corner :(
