If they move the stop position forwards from the SDO5 marker the problem gets smaller? i.e. attempting a new compromise between the 2?
But the signals haven't moved, and that was why SDO5 was fitted. Are they just getting the drivers to stop closer to the signals? What's your source on March 25th introduction? Could you provide diagrams once sent out?

The signals are due to be moved shortly apparently, although NR where doing some field work last week. i’ve seen a diagram for 717 next week with an amended method of working for the NCL.

10.37 preview service from Moorgate worked today (Tuesday 19th) by 717008. Stopped at Essex Road for a "1-minute test" (driver's words) but doors did not open. Also stopped at Highbury & Islington and Drayton Park for passengers, but non-stopped Old Street.

Rather than platform staff, I'm hearing there may be a second man in the cab. Whatever the case, word is next Monday is go day. That's unless Aslef have any further concerns!

008 has the most miles (over 2500 now) and seems to be the only one doing the previews this week.

Thanks for info, are you able to confirm which diagram this is?

Just the one cancellation, I believe. Train broke down at Drayton Park. It's happening quite a bit there lately.

Apparently GTR are once again looking to repair/maintain 313s. I've heard they are ordering parts.

History repeating itself. 20 years ago the 375s were late, some of the CEPs came up for overhaul so Connex withdrew them and ran out of trains to run the service. They resorted to hiring the Hastings DEMU for a few weeks whilst they hastily gave a few CEPs the required overhaul.

They used to, in theory I think they have stopped using them. For example at Highbury and Islington a 3 car train heading north would stop at the south/back end of the platform.
There is still a booked diagram for a single unit. Ironically it only runs in the peaks.

However GTR are not ordering parts for the Class 313s, what they are doing is stripping parts from withdrawn GN Class 313s to use for the SN Class 313s to keep them going which considering the Class 717 fleet will soon replace the Class 313 fleet is the most obvious thing that GTR should be doing.

I got a call saying my units will be 717s and I shall also be doing the afternoon stretch on the 717, the morning stretch is:
05:41 2K02 FPK - MOG
06:07 2F02 MOG - SVG
07:28 2J30 SVG - MOG

18:00 2V28 MOG - WGC
18:58 2K46 WGC - MOG
19:55 2B48 MOG - HFN

Those are the times for when drivers from my depot have them, not sure about timings from Welwyn and Hitchin diagrams

I hope they keep 040/057 and 036/(sh*t I forgot to note it down!) till the very end as these have been very quick units.

There's a lot like that, but it's nothing new. For several years now they've made that racket.

The class 314 Withdrawal forum mentions 314s heading south to be stripped of parts!

Better hope the second man isn't a driver. GTR barely have enough drivers for one in the cab let alone two.

On this route in particular? I wasn't under the impression that GN was one of their training gaps.

Can't imagine who else it would be. If they use drivers we'll see plenty of cancellations.
*CDM's maybe? I can't see no other way, some days there's barely anyone spare and it's only 3 depots that can go in the NCL now.

*Driver managers.

Surely the easiest answer is to use NCL trained dispatchers rather then use drivers especially if using drivers means service cancellations due to lack of drivers.

No idea what unit/s are being kept so can't help on that front but if I do heard anything I let you know.

As to the diagram above, if you do manage to get timings for Hitchin and Welwyn could you be so kind as to share them please?

I assume the 1800 Moorgate- WGC will have the rest of the diagram converted, ie 1659 Watton-at-stone - Moorgate as i cant see how ECS can get to Moorgate in peak and platform occupation at Moorgate can’t have it hanging around.
I know you have stated you only put up stuff you depot covers.

Two units next week, then two new trains introduced each week thereafter.

Yes. Drivers I have spoken to today are very confident that we'll see 717s in service next week.
As far as the 'second man' goes, it can be any safety critical person. That means that in theory it could be a dispatcher, but I suspect it'll just be drivers as I can't imagine ASLEF or GTR wanting dispatchers in the cab.
The second man will be in place on the NCL only.

These are so needed. Seems at least one more 313 has failed today, possibly two.
