Although the official announcement regarding the appeal for funds to reinstate the line to Cheltenham Race Course (involving considerable drainage and embankment replacement south of Gotherington as well as other drainage improvements elsewhere on the line) was made yesterday by Mr Waterman, I understand that The Glos Warks Rly has already received £70000 in donations. This is most welocome as insurance will only pay for half the cost of the work needed (up to £1 million). Meanwhile, trains are operating from Toddington to Gotherington as usual, including of course 2807.

I was on the 10.30 ex Toddington today and the train was well loaded. 6 coaches. 7903 and 37215 on. At 10am the car park was 2/3 full and it was great to see. I have bought shares and I hope many others have. Mr Waterman is a local rail fan who wants to help buy using his name to help raise the profile of the appear. Hats of to him.

I also popped in at Broadway on my way home which is know beginning to look like a Station Site again. With a start made on the patform.

....and the locomotive chosen to haul the GWR Landslip Appeal train for the media?



2807!

A very fitting choice, the oldest GWR locomotive not in state ownership and an ex-"Honeybourne Line" stalwart (from both GWR and BR days). Chuffed is not the word for it! Unfortunately I couldnt be there to witness it. Hopefully there will be many photos to see soon. I've been a supporter of the GWR at Toddington since 1977 (when we didn't even own the line) and I'm very glad I have!
