I got off a train at Gloucester today and went to check the platform for my next train in the station building (only old style TV screens on the platforms here). I noticed that the ticket office had been completely boarded up, for renovation I assumed. However it turns out that the ticket office was subject to an arson attack (see news story here).
Staff are having to sell tickets from portable devices on a table in the foyer now, so extreme is the damage done to the ticket office.
