Whilst travelling from East Croydon to Victoria this afternoon, I noticed the land once occupied by the Gloucester Road Jn - Selhurst fast spurs has been completely cleared of foliage. Does anyone know what this is in readiness for? Are Network Rail reinstating the fast spurs?

No plans im afraid. Think it is just general foliage clearing.

Nearby though, there are plans to reopen platform 7 at Norwood Junction, make it a terminus platform and make the line from Bromley Jn to Norwood (Down Spur- Bi-directional.).

Thanks for that - not sure what particular use it would have been to reinstate the fast spurs anyway.

There were plans, but as we discussed a year or so ago they didn't make it into the confirmed CP5 enhancement plans. Whether or not they'll re-enter the process in a later control period is another matter.

The only ongoing projects at the ASC at the moment are, Thameslink Depot Three Bridges, Balcombe Full Bi-Di plus tunnel axel counter sections, Plumpton crossing box abolition to MCB-OD, Thameslink Sidings at Horsham and the big one, Redhill resignalling and new platform. No one as far as I'm aware has been in the ASC to look at mods to panel 1c to alter the tiles for any alterations to the signalling at Gloucester road junction. Not to say they haven't but the gossip from under the juice rail is silent.

The Sussex route study is looking well beyond the current enhancement period, I should have made that clearer.

Not until early 2020s.

Yeah I'm well aware of that, but this doesn't really answer the question. Are they just on vegeratation clearance or is pramilary investigation into the Gloucester Road junction improvements. As work usually starts way off, rumours then abound, then you get the quiet period and after that you are swamped by various engineers taking pictures ready for the mods and umpteen possesions for the works.

Definitely, definitely, not anything to do with reinstating the spurs.
