A chance to bash some rare track from Witham East Somerset Junction through Merehead Quarry and onto the East Somerset Railway.

A return working is running on Sunday 26th.

Travel available from various North West stations and London Euston (outward only from Euston, return to Euston is via scheduled services).

Bookable through raileasy.

https://glastonbury.raileasy.co.uk/

Nothing in the T&Cs that says the offer is only available to Glastonbury ticket holders.

No mention of stock unfortunately. One for the track bashers!

Interesting. Wonder what stock will be used. Could well be a lot more rail enthusiasts on these trains rather than Glastonbury goers.

The timings of these services aren't exactly great for Glastonbury goers though. Glastonbury opens its gates on the Wednesday, the majority of people arrive on this day. With the train from London Euston being on the Thursday and not arriving at Cranmore untill 1830, and then having to get a coach transfer from there Glastonbury goers aren't going to arrive at the festival till gone 7pm. By this time these people will have a bit of a task to find anywhere to pitch their tent! The only places left will be spots next to toilets and food vans!

Also for those getting this train back to Euston, the train leaves from Cranmore at 6pm on the Sunday. Meaning those passengers will have to start packing their tents up and leave the site by about 4pm-ish. And they'll miss some of the headline acts as the festival goes on till midnight! Not ideal. They should have had the train leaving in the early hours of Monday morning instead. But I suppose, handy for those people who can't get the Monday off work and need to get back home for a good night's sleep before returning to work.
