I'm looking for some advice on the use of an "Any Permitted" route ticket from Glasgow to Elgin. My journey plan is as follows:

Glasgow >Edinburgh> Aberdeen with an overnight break of journey in Aberdeen followed by Aberdeen>Elgin the next morning.

I'm unsure after trying to make sense of the routing guide if this would be valid and would be grateful for some advice.

Absolutely valid, as the route is 'Any Permitted'

For some similar flows there are route: 'via Aviemore' tickets, these would require an excess fare to go via Aberdeen. That's not applicable in your case.
