The work will need to proceed rapidly if it is to be completed in time for next year's Commonwealth Games. Mind you, electirfication to Paisley Canal was fairly rapid.

Network Rail has confirmed on Twitter that the Monklands triangle will be covered by the contract and therefore Motherwell to Cumbernauld services will also switch to EMUs when the project completes next year.

How many people travelling from Falkirk to Glasgow use Grahamston though (when the "High" trains are much faster and much more frequent)?

To be fair not many. Even fewer travel from CUB to FKG. Outside the peaks this is one of the quietest routes I work. This is surprising as Falkirk & Cumbernauld are both sizable towns.

A Motherwell - Falkirk service may be more beneficial.

It would be handy for me to get to the football (albeit twice a year) at Fir Park.
