My wife and I had first class tickets from Glasgow Central to London Euston at 12.40 last Friday on Avanti WC. Although we managed to take our booked seats, the train was overcrowded and first class de-classified. Is there a method of claiming some compensation for the devalued service?

If 1st class was declassified you are entitled to the difference in price between your 1st class ticket and the equivalent standard class ticket, for the Glasgow to Euston part of your journey.
