And still Netwok Rail lets down Scotland & Scotrail.
Having conquered Ben Nevis in the Mediterranean heat of yesterday we set off for Glasgow on the very well filled( but seats for all) 11.41. It left Fort William after the 10.15 steam Jacobite to Mallaig which had every seat in all seven coaches occupied.
When we got to Cowlairs East junc for the chord to Cowlairs North junc we headed north towards Lenzie. I spotted a 156 stationary on the chord we should have used for the last lap to Glasgow Queen street. The guard told me the chord has been out of use for 3 weeks. We shot past Bishopbriggs at 70 mph ish going directly in the wrong direction from Queen Street & then took the 40 mph turnout into a loop where we changed ends. The driver was very quick. He got through 6 coaches & a freight train of luggage in the aisle in record time (thanks) & we went south into Queen st without a signal check. I noticed the chord we were barred from was shiny in the direction from Queen st, but rusty on the track we had avoided. What has happened?
Are Network Rail trying to destroy Scotrail with all these serious faults we encountered on every journey?

The lazy, disinterested, evil supervisory/management grades are often reluctant to put their platform staff in harms way due to the fact that self important people who cant control their anger/rage tend to assault them.

Is that so.

Actually there were plenty of staff on the platform ends, I didn't approach any since I knew from experience they would know as little as me. From the body language when answering the few who went up to them that was indeed the case. There was no "anger/rage" that I could see and the exchanges appeared to be perfectly polite.

I commented, I think reasonably so, on the lack of any communication via the available PA system. A competent supervisor/manager using a sympathetic and helpful tone on the PA, informing the punters of ticket acceptance on bus services, or if they had to pay how to claim, sending out staff onto the concourse with reclaim forms etc etc could have had the crowd on their side. I could have done it, indeed I did in previous employment why is it so difficult today?
