As Eagle says, platform 1 is bi-directional so trains can arrive and depart in either direction. There is also a headshunt accessible from platform 2 and a tamper siding accessible from platform 1. Platform 2 is also bi-directional, but is generally used by down trains when trains are to be crossed over.
