GHA registered a 45 Northwich-Warrington service running a few minutes ahead of the Network Warrington bus. Towards the end of last year GHA Coaches lost the tender to operate the 130 Macclesfield-Manchester Sunday & Bank Holiday service to D&G Bus. Following on from that GHA Coaches registered a less frequent commercial service meaning the subsided contract had to be withdrawn. It was reported a similar occurrence happened with the 27 Macclesfield-Knutsford bus last year.
This sounds similar to how Stagecoach gained monopolies in certain areas.
D&G Bus lost the 77 contract to GHA Coaches earlier in the year and that has been followed by a number of other contracts in the past few weeks - route 6, 8A, 42, 78 and 90 services in the latest re-tendering.
I wouldn't be surprised if GHA come along with an offer to buy D&G Bus soon and then try to expand in to Staffordshire as well.
