Getting Stills

Is it possible to get still images from videos in Quicktime/Windows Media Player/Real Player etc? 'Print Screen' doesn't seem to work - all I get is a blank, black box where the video should be.

I would personally use VirtualDub (once converted to AVI) to crop a small section as to what I want, export that as AVI, then use a AVI to GIF tool where you can get the frame you want.

It is possible from media player. I do it. I think to do it in the performance setting you select video acceleration to medium
